Description:

The clients came to us having just purchased a dilapidated 1950’s house looking to build a new 5 bed detached home for their family in its place. With few planning restrictions limiting the project, due to the location of the site, the clients were able to give us a clear brief of what they would like our design to feature, such as a symmetrical front elevation with traditional sash windows, rendered walls and slate roof tiles.

As part of the process of replacing the original house, a larger internal floor area was sought and approved, ensuring all the elements needed for the family could be achieved. At first floor this meant having the space for a master en-suite bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and Juliet balcony over-looking the garden, three double bedrooms, family bathroom and a Jack & Jill en-suite serving two of the bedrooms. Whilst at ground floor level an annex type en-suite bedroom for visiting family members was needed, which allowed space for a large family games room on the second floor within the generous roof space.

To make the most of the extensive rear garden, an open plan high specification kitchen and dining area with flush thresholds onto a terraced patio with glazed balustrading, ensures a seamless connection between the internal and external spaces and acts as the main living space for the family to enjoy.
