Description:

The aim for the project was to improve and maximise the existing detached house through major internal reconfiguration and a three-storey side extension, creating a 6 bedroom home approximately double its original size. To soften what would be a significant change to the frontage of the property, complete external rejuvenation combined with careful design meant that the extension was able to appear as though it was always part of the original house, with one cohesive theme to all elevations.

As part of the works a new rear facing L-shaped open plan kitchen, living, dining room area with vaulted ceiling was added to the ground floor, along with a new utility room and enlarged double garage. To the upper floors, two additional bedrooms, each with wet-room ensuites, and a new family bathroom were added to the first floor, whilst the loft space was converted into an extensive games and family room, with multiple views out across the rear garden.

House exterior

To reflect the new scale and nature of the house, a feature gallery staircase with impressive three-storey void running through the middle was designed into the entrance hall, acting as central focal point and connection between all of the floors. To enhance the new open plan space a fully glazed gable end A-frame window looks out onto the garden from the dining area, whilst a frameless skylight over the kitchen and an Architect designed fireplace and coffered ceiling add to the detailing and high quality of the interiors throughout.
